- THE PIKE STORY
The 2016 Pike Auld Acquaintance is a dark, toasty brown, high gravity ale infused with spices and aromatic notes of orange. Brewed with three different Yakima Valley hops, Curacao and sweet orange peel, coriander, cassia bark and nutmeg, it drinks as a rich and gutsy, yet well-balanced, winter warmer — sensual and embracing!
This year’s label pays tribute to Charlie Papazian. We have a vibrant and flavorful craft brewing scene today thanks to Charlie, who wrote The Complete Joy of Homebrewing, founded the American Homebrewer’s Association, the Association of Brewers and the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).
From the earliest times flavorful foods, including seasoned beers, have been enjoyed during the winter season. The British were the first to brew ‘Wassail’, a beer for the solstice and now synonymous with caroling. ‘Winter Warmers’ are today’s version, with higher gravity beers that keep us warm during long winters.
MALT VARIETIES: Gambrinus ESB, Maris Otter, Bairds 70/80, Special B, Skagit Valley Dark Munich, Malted Wheat, Carapils, Flaked Rye
HOP VARIETIES: Nugget, Comet, Cascade
Pike Auld Acquaintance is available in the winter on draft and in 22oz dinner bottles.
